Our Mountain Man Claymations

The kids studied the mountain men of Utah and then created  tall tales for each of them. These are the claymations telling their stories. Please click on the name of each mountain man. It was great to meet all of you during SEP's. I enjoyed having the chance to get to know you better and to be able to brag about your awesome kids! If you ever have any questions or concerns, please just let me know.
Next week we will be starting our Native American Projects. Your kids will be getting information about it this week. They will have plenty of time in class to work on their projects, but they are welcomed to work on them at home too.
I will be sending a letter home about our Silent Auction baskets this week. The carnival is coming quickly and we want to have a nice basket to earn money for our school. When you get the note please help in any way that you can.

Testing Is Done! It's Movie Making Time!

Howdy,

Can you believe that our testing is done already!? The kids worked very hard and should be proud of how they did. Now it's time to start making a couple of movies! We are starting with a digital story. The kids had to choose a children's book and take pictures of each page. They are now editing the photos and placing them in a slide show. Last they will add the narration and then we'll show them off.
The next movie we make will be our advertisements. We have talked a lot about persuasive writing this year. So now the kids will make up a product and film an ad trying to convince the class that their product is the best. These are always fun to watch.
We will also be going on the field trips that have been mentioned in the permission slips sent home last week. It's an exciting time of year.
Lets make that big push to the finish!!!

TESTING !!!!

Hi All,

I wanted to add a post here in addition to the e-mail I sent about testing next week. We will test every morning next week starting Tuesday the 10th from 9:10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Then again on Monday the 16th and Tuesday the 17th. Please make sure your kids get a good nights rest and a good breakfast each day. I believe that we will all be very pleased with how awesome they do. I have seen some great work from them all year.

I wanted to thank everyone for coming to SEP's. I really enjoyed visiting with each of you. Your kids are awesome and I am proud of each one of them!! They work so hard and it shows.
I also wanted to thank everyone who was able to send phone books to the school. We won the pizza party for having the most books!!! The kids are so excited!

We Survived!

They did it!
Your kids survived the cranial bombardment that is mid year testing. They took spelling tests, math tests, reading tests, Treasures tests, writing tests and science tests. I am very proud of how hard they worked. They did their best and it shows in their scores. I look forward to meeting with you at the end of February so I can show off your kids work! Please keep using the homework links on the right side of this blog . This way your kids will get all their homework credit on the report cards.

Happy New Year!!!!

We have hit the road running. This week and next week our students will be working on their Social Studies Reports. They have picked a topic and are now required to search out information from at least two different sources. They are taking notes and compiling their information into a report to share with the class. They will then create an illustration to go along with their work.
In math we are working on large digit addition and subtraction as well as keeping up on our times and division skills. Please watch for spelling and times tables to come home on Mondays. Remind your little ones to study hard during the week so that they will do well on their Friday quizes.
In science we will be starting The Water Cycle and Weather units. Science is always a blast.
Also, on Monday the 9th through Thursday the 12th we will be doing our Unit 3 Treasures tests and Dibels Reading Tests from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. each day. Please have your kids well rested, fed and here on time. They have worked hard and will do great!!!
